The search engine rank of a website is directly proportional to the websites credibility. In simple words, the more credible a website is the better ranking it will get on Google especially. The numbers of websites on the internet are increasing day by day. The SEO service providing companies in India are going through a war between the websites to be on the top or to take their clients on the top. In order to win the situation, it is very important to follow the basic rules as recommended by the giant, Google.

Keyword for ranking :-
Usage of keywords in the content is recommended, but a lot of people do it wrong. The right way is to use the right keywords that do not look stuffed, and you will get the desired results. There are so many online free as well as paid tools available on the web related to keyword audit, which can help a lot in keyword selection process. But keep in mind that the tools suggest a vast number of keywords and you will have to choosing the right one can be a bit tricky.

Design of the web page :-
The web page’s layout also plays a very important role in deciding the ranking of a website on the SERP (Search Engine Result Page). Along with the layout, keep in mind the meta description, title tag, meta tag, image tag, alt tag, HTML, the length of copy on pages, the number of indexed pages, canonical URL structure, domain age, site loading speed, and other.

Boost site security :-
With the increase in technology, the cases of security breaches are also increasing rapidly. It has made security protocols stricter and tougher. The security breaches can be in the form of identity theft, clickjacking, malware, adware, and many others. Therefore, websites are going for security certifications and HTTPS encryptions. Google also rank the sites, which have HTTPS encryption and security certification.

Publish quality content frequently :-
Content is king, and will always be the king on the web. Without quality content, no website can rank high. Regularly adding fresh content can help a lot in improving the ranking of a website in SERP. When it comes to deciding the quality of the content, Google and other search engines judge it by using parameters like the user engagement it is getting and algorithm predicts.

Do strategic link building :-
Strategic link plays a very important role in increasing the website’s ranking in Google or any other search engine. But remember, Google only counts linking to an authentic website. Google does not recommend link building through paid options. By doing so, you may end up penalizing the website.

Penguin Update 2016: Game Changer or a Damp Squib?

The trivia

The SEO universe is rife with speculation about the imminent arrival of the latest Penguin Update. It is perhaps the most awaited algorithm update in Google’s history. To all those unenlightened greenhorns who are completely oblivious to Google Penguin update, let’s first begin by taking a bird eye’s view of its evolution and what on earth it is all about? Penguin refers to a set of algorithm updates that are released on time-to-time basis by the Google, the search engine behemoth, to raise the value of search query results for its users. It was first released on 24th April 2012. Penguin Update seeks to bring to task scheming companies and web developers, those who deploy malicious tactics such as Black Hat SEO techniques to artificially boost the search engine rankings of their websites and web pages. Black Hat SEO techniques often include link spamming, keyword stuffing, using invisible text on web pages, reproducing copyrighted content from genuine websites to further the ranking of their websites.

Penguin Vs Panda

I hope you are not visualizing the ultimate farcical duel between the feeble Arctic creature and the endangered Chinese bear. Pun intended! Well, Google Panda is a search engine filter, first rolled out in February 2011, which precisely targets poor quality or “thin” websites by depreciating them in search engine results so that legitimate and authentic websites can attain more prominent rankings while it’s another Google contemporary, Penguin vows to truncate the rankings of websites that tamper with the guidelines of Google Webmaster. While it is possible that Panda affects an entire website; Penguin usually affects only one part of a site on a keyword or page level. A website that has been purged by the Penguin is usually unable to resume until either an update or a refresh happens. Penguin and Panda work in tandem in the sense that both attempt to deliver high quality and superior content websites on top of the search engine results.

Penguin 2016

The last Penguin Update i.e. Penguin 6 was rolled out on October 17th, 2014 and it affected around 1% of queries. With the news of upcoming outing of Penguin doing rounds, the SEO world was initially opinionated on whether it will be an update or just a refresh (rerun) of the existing update. Those rumours were put to rest on 24th November 2015 by a recent tweet from Gary Illyes of Google who confirmed that the latest outing will indeed be a full-fledged update. With Penguin 2016 destined to be a full-fledged update there is high possibility that all those sites that weren't hit earlier could end up tripping this time around. Also, Penguin Update is widely anticipated to be a real time version. If the rumours are true, then that may lead to major upheavals. Since previous Google updates used to be so infrequent, it was not uncommon for websites to wait for a year or so to reap the benefits of a link clean up. With Real time version becoming a reality, all that seems to be a thing of the past. Real time version basically translates to this – as soon as Google encounter spammy links, websites will be struck immediately and the moment spammy links are done away with, the sites may witness a prompt recovery.

Recovery from Penguin Update

Here are some of the things you can try to recover from the wrath of Penguin:

1. Fine tune the content sent to search engines; and try to make your pages appropriate for the keywords you submit.
2. You can deploy Disavow Link tool that assists websites to get rid of spam.
3. Look for any type of vicious content that is being promoted on your website.
4. You can also use Webmaster tool that evaluates your site’s SEO and keeps you in the loop regarding all the problems your site can get into, if any.
5. Avoid any kind of Black Hat SEO techniques such as keyword stuffing and cloaking.
6. Make your site compatible with social networking sites such as Facebook and Google+.

Conclusion:

Although there isn’t much concrete evidence to back up these rumours except for some sporadic tweets from random experts, it would be better for websites and SEOs to prepare in advance for the blizzard of the year. Some of the tips for SEOs and web developers to save their websites are as follows:

1. Become Social- Conceive and disburse descriptive content via social networks.
2. Social Advertising- Connect with your audience on Facebook or Myspace.
3. Guest blogging- Generating original content for external websites.
4. Mix it Up- Build up varied content such as using video, images, presentations and so on.

Content Marketing in 2015-the Top 5 Trends

As more and more business leaders warm to the idea of having a content marketing plan in place for their brands, marketers have to keep adopting newer, better practices to keep the audience interested. Innovation, more than in any other industry, is truly what differentiates the good digital media agencies from the Average Joes. So, what does 2015 have in store for the world of content marketing? Let’s have a look at the Top 5 trends that are likely to be given the thumbs-up this year:

 · Multimedia in Content Marketing: There is an overall consensus on the thought that content marketing is set to see a significant rise in the use of rich media like audio, video, sideshows and other interactive channels. After all, for any brand to truly break through the clutter on the online space, it is important that they create and distribute content that grabs their users’ attention span. It bodes well for a company to aim at using the affinity of the hyper-connected end user to social media platforms that encourage the sharing of good, original content, especially in video form to work to their own advantage.

· “Hyper local” content is in: Local listings are a given in this day and age. What is gaining momentum now though is the trend of creating content that is so specific to a particular geography or locality, that it resonates completely with the audience in that region-hence the term “hyper local”. While it may indeed take more effort than other traditional content marketing methods, it is well worth the effort. As it requires that the author be writing with real knowledge that would be found useful by people in the region, it is a safe assumption that Google would hold its originality and relevance in high regard.

· Info graphics may not cut it anymore: Industry veterans say that while great articles, blog posts and info graphics will never lose their importance, they are going to need some extra fire-power to truly ignite interest among the audience. Effects such as 3 D, animated info graphics, parallax and so on will help give an edge to brands over their peers. They will help the brand get noticed, and more importantly, aid in getting its content shared with others in the influence group.

· User-generated content will find more favor: Increasingly, brands are opting to involve their customers by encouraging comments, reviews and testimonials that they can post on their websites and social media platforms, in turn also helping the brand’s cause by pushing them to deliver great service. User-generated content is highly original and therefore boosts the brand’s credibility. This year, the trend is set to go a step further as many companies prepare to engage their employees as well in this trend, approaching a decentralized trend for content creation that helps generate increased participation in the company besides providing fresh perspectives.

· Increased Paid Content Marketing: Ultimately, marketing is about grabbing the most eyeballs. While organic sharing and syndication of content is naturally ideal, companies are also taking note that paid content distribution through high-quality; reputed channels can serve as a good supplement to the painstakingly-created content that they’d like to bring to the audience’s attention.

Now, it’s simply a matter of choosing which of the above trends your brand finds the most compelling-ready to test the waters?

Impact of Semantic HTML on Google & SEO Ranking

Semantic HTML is programming at its cleverest. It is aimed at making searches truly useful, informative and meaningful to the user. In fact, by being able to produce fruitful search results even without very specific query criteria, it justifies its widespread popularity amongst the search engine community. The very idea of adding semantic mark-up to the HTML of a web page is to make it richer in information, rather than just pleasant to look at.
